We touched on the benefits of the Reduced Cost for collecting the data and formatting data consistently in Part 2 of this series. There are benefits beyond just the costs savings to produce this repository of reliable data. This is the ease with which the accurate data can be accessed.
Once the data is available in the Data Warehouse and accessible via the Business Intelligence environment, more people seek out this information and do more with it, such as: data mining, predictive analysis, statistical analysis, segmentation analysis, case based reasoning, dashboards, alerts and many more. There are more eyeballs looking at the data through the lenses of different types of tools. Things not noticed before get discovered, better decision making and strategizing are made possible.
In short an effective Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence Program can result in more value being extracted from the repositories of data previously existed untapped within the enterprise.
